CLARISSA’S

STORY

WHY DO I DESIGN?

I always felt there was a greater purpose beyond myself. I was fortunate to feel this as a young adult, which motivated me to use my skills for good.

My purpose? How it began.

I grew up drawing from television and book characters.

I was born in Houston, Texas, in the late '80s and experienced my childhood in the '90s and 2000s. My passion for art emerged in 1999 when I was twelve, as a means to cope with my grandfather's passing. I began filling my art book with drawings of characters like Tweety Bird and others from television.

In middle school, I developed an interest in presentation design; my first project focused on Henry Ford. I enhanced my project board with images of all the cars designed by Ford, including the iconic Model T. As I matured, my fascination with building residential homes in The Sims game also grew.

Fast forward to my sophomore year of college, I transferred to the University of Houston to pursue a creative degree. There, I delved deeper into design and art, studying a range of subjects including architecture, photography, psychology, and graphic design. My undergraduate journey lasted six years, culminating in a BA in Art. I then chose to further my education as a graduate student, focusing on digital media.

One year ago, I made the decision to pursue a degree in interior architecture to finalize my educational journey. With nearly three degrees, many passions, and a deep commitment to improving the world, I am excited about the path ahead. There’s so much more!

Some of my favorite projects I designed were for BET/NFL, TV & film, education, conferences (Disney stars), and all things social media, including live event coverage.
